Quilt Finish: Sea Diamonds

I’ve just managed to squeeze one more completed quilt into 2018: Sea Diamonds! I finished turning the binding about two hours ago. It’s a lovely sunny day so I found some evenly lit spots for the photo shoot, and here it is!

The pattern is called Diamonds in the Deep and is by Kirsty of Bonjour Quilts. It sewed up very quickly, especially in the throw size that I made, and the instructions are very clear and easy to follow. I made it as a gift for a friend (I’m off to deliver it this afternoon).

The front and binding are blue batiks, and the back is a wide-format fabric with a newsprint pattern. I quilted it on my sit-down Husqvarna Viking Mega Quilter using a light blue So Fine thread for the top and white Aurifil in the bobbin. It’s mostly all-over swirls, but I threw in a few pebble clusters and some snail swirls here and there.

Happy new year! Wishing you plenty of piecing and a year full of finishes in 2019!

This is a wonderful finish Rachel. It’s a great quilt design with the colours changing in the quilt. You did an awesome job on the quilting.

I LOVE this quilt. Is the lighter colored batik an aqua or is that a light blue?

    1. Rachel says:

Thank you, Julie! It’s an aqua. It’s the same pattern as the binding fabric, just a different color.
