I realize you can’t even see the quilting on the front of this block, which is probably just as well. Neither could I while I was quilting it 🙂
I echoed the outer edge of the hexagon ring and attempted a small-scale meandering fill in the black background. I wanted the hexie ring to stand up and the background to recede, which did work. Then I echoed the inner ring and meandered inside there. As you can see, I crossed a few lines and quilted it a little unevenly. I’m reminded of a scene from the book The Restaurant at the End of the Universe (part of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy series) where our heroes are stealing a black spaceship. Everything in it is black, and they discover that when you hit one of the black switches, a little black light lights up black to let you know you’ve done it. Quilting black thread on black fabric was a little like that.
Inchy Hexagon Club is block 36 of The Splendid Sampler and was designed by Jane Davidson.
