I love how this block comes together. It looks complicated, but Lindsay’s design is deceptively simple. When this block came up in my to-quilt pile, I had just learned the fern design (Angela Walters again, I love her Craftsy classes) and I wanted to practice it, so I decided to use it in the dark red square. I kept the rest of the quilting simple so the fern would be the star of the show.
I practiced my curves in the small center block and used back & forth lines to create texture in the white patches. Done!

Pieces of Friendship is block 16 of the Splendid Sampler and was designed by Lindsay Mayland. Her post about the block includes a bonus project that sets four of them together, resulting in a lovely secondary design.
