I’m working my way through these blocks! At this point, all the piecing and setting is done (I made 70 blocks in all) and I’m quilting each one. I chose quilt-as-you-go so that I could easily do custom quilting on every block. Once I’ve quilted them all, I’ll join them together, add the backing, and quilt the sashing through all layers. But that’s all in the future… back to the block at hand!
I love the look of flying geese, but I tend to have problems with the points. This lovely little block was paper pieced, so the points are perfect! Well, the points inside the block are perfect. The points that meet the border are more my usual style.
I wanted the quilting to highlight the triangles, so I simply outlined them. You can see in the photo above how I worked my way around the block.
Goose on the Loose is block 22 of the Splendid Sampler and was designed by Amy Smart. I love her scrappy color choices for this block!
