I like the quilting in the hill and in the background on this block, but I’m not as happy with the echoed circles inside the sun (or moon, if you prefer). They aren’t as even as I’d like. I went a little too fast, I think. They do give it a sketched look that’s kind of fun, though.

The switchbacks in the hill came out nicely, and I really like how the wavy lines in the background draw the eye upward and frame the keyhole shape of the sun and the hill.

Top of the Hill is a bonus block for the Splendid Sampler and was designed by Pat Sloan. It was released after the 50th block had come out to mark the halfway point of the Sampler!
